Everything about this real wedding at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu was so much fun to be a part of! The bride and groom wanted to reflect their personalities from their fun childhoods to worldly travels and individual hobbies. With help from the amazing team at Gather Events this blend of inspirations became a beautiful masterpiece all captured by the talented Erin Hearts Court Photography and featured on 100 Layer Cake!
From the bride…Many of our guests were from out of town so we wanted to show them the best of Southern California as we understood it: excellent local produce and artisanal foods, the rugged natural beauty of sages and succulents (we used our garden’s succulents in the floral arrangements and bouquets), colors faded in the sun, and a lighthearted spirit.
It was an honor to work with such a talented team of vendors for this beautiful wedding:

Inspired by a book of vintage California orange box labels, this styled shoot created by Christina of Simply Modern Weddings and captured by OneLove Photography is one of our faves. We were excited about the vision, inspired by the color scheme and honored to be a part of this beautiful day. Set in a beautiful orange grove, the fresh citrus feel of this shoot makes us smile…..and long for warm summer days just around the corner! Check out Green Wedding Shoes to see their feature on Orange Crush Wedding Inspiration.
Orange-you-glad we got to work with all these amazing vendors? We sure are! (And we apologize for the terrible joke, but seriously, how could we let that one go?)

Favorite Florals: For the Table
Sure, we try not to play favorites…but let’s be honest, we all have a few. Here’s a quick peek at some of Krista’s favorites for the tabletop. In all colors, shapes and sizes, we’ve got a major crush on these beauties. Enjoy!
This wedding is by far one of my favorites of the last year. I always love working with Vanessa of Alchemy Fine Events, on top of being totally gorgeous and fun, her vision and designs are so inspiring! I have been pouring over these pictures by Luna Photo and love them all, so you’ll have to forgive the heavy photo post! There was just too much goodness throughout this day not to share!
From Vanessa of Alchemy Fine Events… For Jessica and Iyla’s wedding, we were inspired by their passion for art and design, as well as their heritage and the history behind the Bel Air Bay Club for this Old Hollywood-inspired wedding.

I am so utterly in love with everything about this shoot I don’t know where to begin! The colors? The creativity? The crew that made it happen? I guess I should start with Lindye Galloway, she’s an interior and event designer, and the creative genius who dreamed up this colorful and fun Kate Spade inspired shoot! Then there’s Jasmine Star, the photographer (and secret florist on the side!) behind these gorgeous shots. It was nearly impossible to narrow down pictures for this post because they’re ALL so insanely good! Add in the talents of Sweet & Saucy, Copper Willow, and LVL Events and its quite obvious why I was so honored to be included!
Now… about that creativity! And the color!! So much attention went into each detail emulating the bright and bold pops of color and sophisticated girlieness perfected by Kate Spade.
From Lindye Galloway Design…With spring in the air and summer fast approaching we put together a bold shoot that exudes color, layers of patterns, and plenty of design eye candy! Desiring a modern feel, the location for the shoot is in an art gallery that is the perfect blank canvas to build upon.First is the ceremony! A colorful striped runner rests between the sea of ghost chairs, leading up to the aisle and (drum roll for a unique twist) continues several feet up the wall for a dramatic effect.
The girls at Copper Willow blew us all away with these custom placemats made out of plexiglass! Each was unique, highlighting the menu with the guest’s name and darling silverware graphics.
Sweet & Saucy just nailed it with this adorable gray and white polka dot cake. And that bright aqua bow…Too cute!
One of my favorite things about the Chuck Jones Center by 24 Carrots is the endless white space that begs for creativity to fill it, yet can equally as beautifully serve as a stark white backdrop to focus attention on its objects, as it does here.
To see more of the super fun shoot, because really you don’t want to miss one single moment of it, head over to Style Me Pretty and see the full post!
Thank you to everyone involved on the shoot, such a great team!!
Cheers!

Caroline Tran’s Propel Workshop Maternity Shoot with Lovely Jubilee Featured on On To Baby
I have long been a fan of Caroline Tran and love any opportunity to work with her! The team at Archive Rentals and I are always honored to to participate in the Propel Workshop, a hands-on mentoring workshop she hosts for photographers in Southern California. This sweet maternity shoot was part of a recent Propel Workshop at a private estate in Malibu and featured last month on On To Baby. The workshop sessions werre all designed and styled by none other than Wilmarose of Lovely Jubilee!
The expecting mom, Kym has both of her children’s birthdays tattooed on the back of her neck, and will soon add the third. She also has a tattoo that reads “more and more each day”, referring to her ever growing love for her babies. These intimate details, along with the beauty of the natural light, were captured remarkably by Caroline and the Propel attendees. To see all of the photos, be sure to visit the full gallery on On To Baby!

Krista Jon + Archive Rentals; Proud Sponsors of “A Night of Discovery with James Cameron” benefiting MUSE School
Krista Jon for Archive Rentals is proud to sponsor “A Night of Discovery with James Cameron,” a unique fundraising event organized to benefit MUSE School CA’s Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM) Program. It will also be an experience of a lifetime, with the opportunity to meet James Cameron and see the vertically-deployed, bright green DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submarine he co-designed and piloted on his historic, 2012 solo dive to the deepest place on the planet, the Challenger Deep.
A small group of attendees will have the chance to view footage from Cameron’s dive almost seven miles deep–35, 787 feet–into the largely unexplored and alien deep-sea trench. They will also have the opportunity to sit inside the submarine’s simulator and experience firsthand what it was like for James Cameron during his almost seven-hour voyage. An organic gourmet dinner prepared by Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Susan Feniger, with a special selection of vegan cuisine from her Hollywood, CA restaurant STREET, will round off this very special, one-of-a-kind event.
Located in beautiful Malibu Canyon between Malibu and Calabasas, California, MUSE School CA –founded by Suzy Amis Cameron and Rebecca Amis– is located on 22 breathtaking acres abutting the Santa Monica Mountain conservation lands. At MUSE School CA, every child is truly known and seen. “MUSE School CA was established to inspire and prepare young people to live consciously with themselves, one another, and the planet. -Suzy Amis Cameron (Founder-MUSE School CA)”

Inspired By This Featured Video + Vendor of The Week
I recently had the opportunity to team up with Matt Turk of Tower Films to shoot a tutorial video for Inspired By This on how to turn a basic floral arrangement into a lavish and unique display with just a few key components. We filmed at the Archive Rentals Showroom in San Clemente using various blush tabletop pieces we often rent for weddings and events. It is always such a pleasure working with Matt, for he is such a talented cinematographer. Here are some behind the scene photos shot by Robert Arroyo, always one of our favorites to work with.

The recent “50 Shades of White” event put on by Event Specialist International was held at Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa. Im always inspired by unique botanicals like this bromeliad and I can’t seem to get enough of these Juliette garden roses. They are a match for everything! I really don’t ever know what I am going to make until I am sitting right in front of it with whatever flowers and textures called to me that day. This piece started with the brightest sweet peas I had laid my eyes on last spring.

“Shades of Grey. ‘For a sophisticated alternative to zesty green foliage, consider using leaves, grasses and herbs in soft shades of silvery-grey’ says floral designer Krista Jon, who created this beautiful bouquet of blowsy white peonies and ranunculus. Here, Krista has used senecio complimented by a piece of grey-blue suede picked up at a fabric shop, but you could also use sage, artemisia or eucalyptus for a similar look. “I like to call them ‘grey greens’, says Krista. “They add a certain velvety softness ot any palette” bring wow-factor to an all-white arrangement; and lighten up brighter blooms.”

From Abi Q Photography…Maria’s look was soft and classic with a bit of beach-side romance thrown in. The wedding was held at a small Catholic church in downtown Laguna that had a timeless classiness about it. The reception was at Casa Romantica in San Clemente which is known for it’s breathtaking views of the ocean and beautiful light. Her florist did different centerpieces for each table of different heights and fullness and the soft romantic look it created was absolutely breathtaking. I loved the use of succulents alongside the pretty pastels of the hydrangeas, peonies and roses. Everything about Maria and Connor’s affair was beautiful. The best part of the day was when their coordinator, Erin, let me steal them away for ten extra minutes at sunset to capture some photos of them in beautiful light.

Michelle and Anthony’s Wedding at St. Regis Monarch Beach
Michelle and Anthony’s love story was one of my favorite parts of our process. No matter what we were talking about…if Anthony’s name came up, she instantly got the biggest smile on her face and was elated to tell you just how or when or why.
Their fairytale love story began on a plane ride together where they met for the first time. This inspired using décor such as vintage suitcases and other travel details from Archive Vintage Rentals.
Floral design palette included black calas, lavender roses, succulents, and lilacs in vintage silver,

“Whimsy is the theme at this picture-perfect shop. Owner Krista Jon makes two trips a week to local flower farms and markets to buy unique, seasonal botanicals such as succulents, yucca flowers, and green, spiky blooms, juxtaposing her finds with softer, imported blossoms, such as peonies ($8 to $12 per stem) and garden roses ($5 per stem). To personalize Mom’s bouquet, Jon suggests shopping estate sales and antique malls for one-of-a-kind containers, or bringing in Mom’s favorite vase from home. 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, 111 Avenida del Mar, San Clemente, 949-492-7062, downtownflowersoc.com“

“Anyone that can see the beauty in mushrooms and weave them into the most inspired, enchanting woodland scene fit for the most modern and fashionable wedding gets aces in my black book! Krista once designed for my event, A Soolip Wedding, an amazing 10 foot by 8 foot living succulent wall that was the backdrop for the Monique Lhuillier fashion show. It was incredible.”

“In case you haven’t noticed, we’re in full on wedding month here at The Feast, building up to that big, polarizing, late-April “event of the century,” the royal wedding. To honor the occasion, we caught up with Wanda Wen, the L.A. wedding Renaissance woman at the helm of West Hollywood‘s Soolip Paperie & Press, a boutique and letterpress studio that’s definitely the favored stationer of the Los Angeles entertainment elite. Wen, who got her start in the fashion world working for designer Perry Ellis, fashion-industry rock star Stephen Sprouse, and Isda & Co, has since been cutting her teeth in the local wedding biz, and as a noted tastemaker and lifestyle expert, these are her top places around town to get the marriage thing sorted”… (Read More Here)

A Soolip Wedding will hold two separate events open to the public, with more than 40 vendors gathered together to celebrate the aspects of weddings that make them unique and unforgettable. The venues will be decorated with the floral creations of Krista Jon and will feature kitchen essentials from Williams-Sonoma. Letterpress invitations by Soolip Paperie & Press will be included as well. Food tastings, including wedding cake and champagne, will also be offered to guests, along with expert panel discussions and a luxury raffle and gift bag. The newly-engaged can also plant a garden together at the Couple’s Garden. The seed symbolizes the beginnings to their life together, which will eventually blossom into a divine garden, as beautiful as their marriage.
